On the 11th day of Christmas...

So this year is our first married Christmas, and I decided to do the 12 days of Christmas for my amazing hubby Austin.  He's received a head lamp, 3 car trees, a $5 dollar movie from Target, 7 oz. of Milano cookies, 8 boxes of cereal, etc.  It's been really fun!  Today is the 11th day so I'd like to share 11 things I love about him on my oh-so-popular blog ;)

1. He wakes me up every morning.  He is usually awake before I am, even if I have to go to work/school before him and he is my alarm clock for sure.  He doesn't bounce the bed or shove ice cubes down my shirt, but he just comes and gives me a hug and tells me I need to come eat breakfast.  I love it.

2. He talks about our future all the time.  Who knows if our plans will happen or if they will be completely different, I just love that he thinks about more than what's happening right now.

3. Along with the future, he talks about our future kids a lot too.  He will say things like, "Promise me our kids will do this..." or "Can we do this with our kids?"  It's so cute.

4. He doesn't care what anybody thinks, and he's helping me do the same thing.  He always keeps me in check in that department.

5. He cooks.  And cleans.  Need I say more?

6. He plans surprises for me all the time.  Even if they're tiny things like going out to dinner, he is always thinking of some way to surprise me and I love it.

7. When he talks about his mission, he gets so excited.  He was on Google Maps today going through the streets of his mission and telling me about all the things he's going to show me someday when he takes me to Brazil.  He doesn't get excited about things he doesn't care about, but when he's excited about something, he's excited and it's so cute.

8. He sings.  All the time.  He has an amazing voice and even though most of the time he makes up the words to whatever song he's singing, I just love that he sings and doesn't make fun of me when I sing and sound terrible.

9. He works so hard to provide for our little family of 2 :) he's a genius with everything Apple, and has a great side business he loves and makes him happy.  He's kind of a nerd and I kind of love it.

10. He holds my hand everywhere.  He's always spot on with PDA.

11. His smile makes me melt like a popsicle on the 4th of July!

I'm so grateful for him and all he does for me.  He's the best boy I know and I can't believe I'm married to him.  Love you Austin!

Necessities

So I wanted to be a cool blogger and make a post about my favorite beauty products.  There's too many to cover in the entire beauty umbrella, so I decided to just go with my favorite makeup products that I absolutely can't do without.

1. Image Day Spa night-time moisturizer.  I had really bad skin for a long time, then my sister told me about this awesome face wash from Image.  When I bought the face wash, the lady told me about this moisturizer you wear at night and it makes your skin SO soft and you wake up with glowing skin.

2. MAC Paint Pot.  LOVE this stuff.  You just put it on your eyelid before eyeshadow and it works as a primer.  Also, if you feel lazy it comes it different colors so if you get a shimmer one (Rubenesque is my favorite) you can just put that on and call it good.  They're $18 from MAC...kinda pricey but super worth it.

3. Mary Kay concealer.  I am 21 and already have bad circles under my eyes.  Slap some of this on after you put on your foundation and they disappear.  They're $9 and last for like a year.

4. Image Daily Defense Matte moisturizer.  This stuff is awesome.  It's for oily skin so it doesn't feel nasty and oily when you put it on.  Also it has SPF 30 so you don't smell like sunscreen all day :)

5. Kabooki brush.  I got mine from the Beauty Bar in Bountiful and it's Mirabella brand...I've had it for about a year and it's in great condition.  Love it.  I use mineral foundation and it puts it on super fast cause it's huge.

6. Naked Minerals foundation.  My sister and I took a makeup class at Bountiful High a couple years ago and this foundation was included in the kit.  It covers up ANYTHING on your face you don't want to see.  It comes in a darker shade and lighter.  I buy 1 of each and use both of them or either depending on the day and how tan I am :)  You can buy it online...they're about $25 each and last a long time.

Tuesday night at the Facer home

Hi, my name is Kelsey and I have an awesome husband.

I saw this "deep pore cleanser" thing on Pinterest and wanted to put it to the test.

(1 T. unflavored gelatin + 1 T. milk microwaved for 10 sec. and smeared all over your face...dried for about 20 minutes then painfully peeled off)

I had been talking about it for a while and the other night I mentioned to Austin I was going to do it later that night...I was doing my homework and the next thing I know he walks out of the bathroom like this:

I was dying.
He said that he had this Avon lady in one of the wards on his mission and he would always buy stuff from her to help her out.  So then I decided to make mine and put it on....

We sat there not able to talk to each other or laugh at Friends because of our stiff faces for about 20 minutes.
We obviously live a really exciting life :)

P.S. My mask didn't work as well as Pinterest said it would....bummer.

The Vow

Remember when this movie came out and everyone and their dog had something to say about it?  Well it took me a while to get to the theater to see it, but when I finally did I loved it.  Best part of the show:

"I vow to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness, and to have the patience that love demands. To speak when words are needed, and to share the silence when they’re not. To agree to disagree on red velvet cake, and to live within the warmth of your heart and always call it home.

I vow to fiercely love you in all your forms, now and forever. I promise to never forget that this is a once in a lifetime love. I vow to love you, and no matter what challenges might carry us apart, we will always find a way back to each other."

So cute.

Favorite chick flicks?  Favorite quotes?  Tell me.

Pintervention?

I try to stay away from Pinterest during school, but lately I can't get away.  Today I saw this super cute sign.....

I wanted something cute in our kitchen on our boring white walls, so I decided to do this during my break between classes.  I designed the image in Illustrator, went to Kinko's and got it printed, downloaded a coupon from Michael's and bought myself a frame.  You just frame an image then use dry erase markers over the glass of the frame.  I love it!  We'll see if Austin plays along...

I'm Gonna Miss This

Ever since Austin and I got married, I've been so excited about our future.  I married somebody with plans, folks.  How did I get so lucky?  I'll never know.  Right now we're both going to the U.  He's studying accounting and I'm studying graphic design.  After he graduates, he just informed me that he wants to find an internship in New York or Chicago and live there for 2 years.  When he asked me if that would be okay even if he was working 60ish hours a week, I somehow didn't have a problem agreeing to that.  After he told me that, I started seeing the timeline of our life starting to form and I was getting so excited.  He has plans about houses and assets and money and schooling and chillins and jobs and everything else that I can't come up with.
Us at Lagoon...who knows when
Seinfeld and orange julius...our routine.
Mostly I'm just excited about possibly living in New York....  But I didn't know the extent of his plans until we got married and now I get so excited about what's going to happen next that I find myself forgetting to live in the now.  I forget about how funny our apartment is and how many stories we're going to have for our kids because of it.  How many laughs we'll share talking about the crazy family upstairs with that mysterious chirping noise that nobody can fix.  Or the yard that was never green.  Or the air conditioner/plywood contraption my dad made us during the summer.  I'll miss the times that Austin and I were able to go to Lagoon almost every day of the summer.  Or how we would blow up our air mattress in our living room to watch a movie because our couches are so uncomfortable.  I'll miss the nights of homework and Friends every night during school.  I'll miss using gift cards every time we grocery shop.  I'll miss it all, so I'm trying to take in every moment so that when the day comes I realize how much time has passed, I'll know I lived every moment.
Of course, there's a country song for this dilemma.

"Before she knows it she's a brand new bride
In a one-bedroom apartment, and her daddy stops by
He tells her it's a nice place
She says it'll do for now
Starts talking about babies and buying a house
Daddy shakes his head and says, 'Baby, just slow down
You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this.'"

My Addiction

Confession: I have watched You've Got Mail about 200 times. I get lost in the scenes-places like Starbucks, the elevator, and the Nut Shop. I'm always in agony over whether Kathleen and Joe Fox are really going to get together. Watch it - I know you'll love it.

This scene from You've Got Mail is one of my favorites.   I can't tell you how many times I've quoted it in every day life and people look at me like I'm crazy.
"You have no cash?  She has no cash."
"Look, a dollar.  That's all I have, I have a dollar."

Hi, I'm Kelsey and I'm addicted to chick flicks.  When Austin is gone, I sneak in as many as I can.  This one never fails to make day.

Best decision I've ever made

So when Austin and I were engaged, the thought always came up in my mind that I would have to cook meals.  Like real life, home made, edible meals.  Had I ever really done that?  Not so much.   I had perfected my Kraft Macaroni and Cheese and the timing on my Ramen, and I could make some killer chocolate chip cookies, but I didn't really know how to cook...anything.

We've now been married for a little over 3 months and it's actually not as bad as I thought it would be.  I call my mom about 5 times when I'm making anything, but at least it happens, right?  My mom made (delicious) meals every day and did it all herself.  She is the best cook I know.  Obv.  She's my mom.
I'd like to think that I've expanded my culinary creativity and I think it's so fun to make new things.  By the way, Austin knows how to cook way better than I, and he takes his fair share of meals, which are delicious.

Onto the best decision I've ever made...

My sister Amy is Wonderwoman and does just about everything.  She wanted me to come down to her house one weekend and can chicken with her.  Can chicken?  Uhhh gross.  I thought it was the nastiest thing I've ever heard of, but she convinced me due to it's convenience.  We waited til chicken went on sale, and bought 20 lbs each.  We spend about an hour cleaning (so gross) out all the chicken then just about all day canning it.  She's Wonderwoman because she made butterfinger homemade ice cream, baked beans, and bread for her visiting teachers all in this same day.  I stuck to chicken.  When it was all over, the gross part of it kind of wore off when I opened the first can.  I opened it, shredded it with my hands and ate it.  Best thing ever.  Anyway, it's been so great to have what seems like an endless supply of already cooked chicken ready to go, and this is my latest obsession with it...
A delicious quesadilla with mozzarella cheese, canned chicken, and my mom's homemade salsa :)

Is it cute or what?
